We are looking for an original design that best represents the spirit of Kaua‘i Pride!

Kaua’i Pride Parade promotes & celebrates peace, acceptance, and unity for everyone on our island regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ethnicity, religious affiliation, or background.   

We encourage all contestants to be creative and colorful in designing this year's shirt. Please also include a brief description under 300 words of how your artwork best represents Kaua‘i Pride.

Please share a brief description (under 300 words) of how your artwork best represents Kaua‘i Pride.

By submitting the email, you are stating:

  • I confirm that I am a resident of Kaua‘i (if your entry is selected as the winner, we will need you to provide documentation of your residency)

  • I declare that this artwork is original and free of copyrighted or trademarked material and now becomes the property of Kaua’i Pride and I permit the artwork to be shown and reproduced. 

  • If under 18 - I am under 18 years of age and my parent or guardian has approved this entry (we will need to confirm if your design is selected as the winner)

Contest Rules:

  • You must be a current resident of Kaua’i 

  • Contest is open to all ages

  • All entries must be the entrant’s original, unpublished, and previously unproduced work – no copyrighted or trademarked artwork will be accepted for judging 

  • Design must say, “Kaua’i Pride Parade” and “2024” somewhere on it.

  • Entry dimensions must fit within a 10”x 10” box and be high resolution (at least 300dpi)

  • The winning artwork will be selected by a panel of judges based on criteria of originality, visibility, artistic merit, feasibility, embodiment of the Kaua’i Pride mission and effective representation of the Kaua’i Pride Parade

  • Only family-friendly designs will be considered

  • By entering the contest, artists are declaring their artwork to be original, acknowledge that the artwork becomes the property of Kaua’i Pride and cannot be returned, and permit the artwork to be shown and reproduced. 

  • By submitting you agree that if your design wins, it can be used by Kaua’i Pride on shirts and other promotional items, including, but not limited to: the Kaua’i Pride website, social media, and event, marketing and public relations materials. The winner and design will be recognized in our e-newsletter and on social media. 

  • We prefer that the design be ready for print: vector-based EPS file with all fonts converted to outlines which can be resized without degrading shape or color. We will work with the winning designer to get the design ready for printing if needed.

  • Accepted file types: eps, jpg, jpeg, png, pdf

  • Max. file size: 25 MB


JUDGING CRITERIA

Designs will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Originality

  • Visibility – Is it eye-catching and visible from a distance?

  • Does it coincide with the mission of Kaua’i Pride?

  • Feasibility – Must be easy to reproduce


The winning artist grants Kaua’i Pride Parade the exclusive right to the design, including any modifications thereof, to be used on promotional/marketing and other Kaua’i Pride Parade materials. The artist shall indemnify, defend and hold harmless Kaua’i Pride Parade from and against any and all suits, actions, claims, damages, liabilities, judgments, losses and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of any violation of third party rights (including, without limitation, intellectual property infringement, misappropriation, dilution or violation) in connection with Kaua’i Pride Parade’s use, distribution, publishing, sale or exploitation of the design. No submissions will be returned. The winning artist will be compensated $350 for their work.
